FG asks workers to register online for 50kg bags of rice at N40,000

The Federal Government has announced plans to sell 50kg bags of rice at N40,000 each to public servants in an effort to mitigate the ongoing food crisis affecting the nation.

This initiative was revealed in a letter from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, signed by the Director of Human Resources, Jaiyesimi Abimbola.

According to the letter, interested staff members must complete a Google form on the OHCSF website and submit it to the Director of Human Resources for endorsement.

The letter also stated that the payment and distribution of the rice will be managed by designated offices, with the Chairman of the Joint Union Council of the ministry serving as an observer to ensure transparency throughout the process.

ā€œAs part of the Federal Governmentā€™s efforts to alleviate the current food crisis in the country and its effects on the general population, I am directed to inform you that 50kg bags of rice will be sold at a subsidised rate of N40,000 only per bag to interested public servants in Abuja.

The Federal Government had recently said it had created centres across the country where Nigerians could purchase 50kg bags of rice for N40,000.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, said the initiative was one of several initiatives by the Tinubu administration to ease living conditions for citizens.
