FG declares Friday public holiday for Eid-ul-Maulud

The Federal Government has announced that Friday, September 5, will be a public holiday in observance of this year’s Eid-ul-Maulud.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

Eid-ul-Maulud marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to Muslims in Nigeria and beyond, urging them to reflect on the Prophet’s values of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, which he described as essential for national unity and development.

He also called on Nigerians to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and supportive of government policies geared towards unity and collective well-being.

The minister wished the Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Maulud celebration.
