The Federal Government (FG) has dismissed concerns over the health of President Bola Tinubu following his brief stumble during an official reception ceremony in Turkey.
Tinubu, who is on a State Visit to the Republic of Türkiye, momentarily lost his balance while participating in a reception parade at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.
The incident occurred during an official welcome ceremony, where he was inspecting a guard of honour alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The President was quickly assisted by aides and protocol officers and immediately regained his footing. A video of the incident circulated widely on social media, prompting speculation and public concern about his health.

In a swift response, the presidency dismissed fears over the incident, stating that Tinubu was “hale and hearty” and did not sustain any injuries.
According to the Presidency, the stumble was caused by a poorly laid blue carpet at the venue.

Despite the brief incident, Tinubu continued with the official programme of events, including bilateral talks with President Erdoğan and a joint press conference. His two-day State Visit to Turkey is expected to focus on strengthening diplomatic relations, economic cooperation, defence partnerships, and trade ties between Nigeria and Turkey.
The FG reiterated that the President remains in good health and fully engaged in all scheduled activities during the visit.
