FirstBank launches fully automated branch in UI

FirstBank of Nigeria Limited has launched its second fully automated branch, the FirstBank Digital Xperience Centre (DXC), situated within the premises of the University of Ibadan.

This Digital Xperience Centre (DXC) shows the bank’s commitment to providing customers with access to world-class, innovative banking services.

Designed to offer customers a convenient edge in performing different tasks independently, the self-service branch is built with an extensive list of banking services.

Among these features are humanoid robots integrated with Video Banking and Artificial Intelligence (AI), functioning as approachable branch representatives; Teller Cash Recyclers (TCRs); Self-Service Kiosks catering to non-financial activities like account modifications; Fast Track (Contactless) ATMs; and Interactive Smart Screens facilitating seamless and comprehensive consultations with bank sales personnel through remote video linkage.

While expressing delight at the initiative, CEO of FirstBank, Dr. Adesola Adedunta said, “‘Woven into the fabric of society’, summarises how we have proven our commitment to customers across all our footprints globally, by investing in modern technology infrastructure to pioneer digitisation of products and platforms, thereby giving our over 42 million customers convenient, seamless, safe and secure banking experience.”

““The FirstBank DXC is a fully automated interactive digital branch, the first of its kind in the Nigerian banking industry. It was first launched in Lagos, Nigeria in 2021 and has since then, redefined customers’ banking experience by introducing them to a new world of digitised self- services.”

The bank observed that 22 million users of its digital products accounted for 95 percent of customer-initiated transactions on its digital platforms. Additionally, the bank say it handles more than 12 percent of the total payment volume within the Nigerian industry.

The University of Ibadan’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration, Professor E.O Ayoola, and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics, Professor Aderonke Baiyeroju, spearheaded the university’s reception of a delegation from FirstBank.

This delegation included Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, CEO of FirstBank; Callistus Obetta, Group Executive of Technology & Innovation Services; and Timothy Arowoogu, Group Head of Public Sector, West, among other notable figures.
