Manchester City’s Phil Foden has been named as the Premier League player of the season.
Foden’s impressive performances have been central to Manchester City’s charge for another Premier League trophy under Pep Guardiola.
This campaign has been his most productive in terms of output. The English forward has found seventeen league goals for himself while adding a further eight assists. Remarkably, none have been from the penalty spot and only trails Villa’s Ollie Watkins in this regard.

The English forward beat competition from Arsenal duo Declan Rice and William Saliba, teammate Erling Haaland, Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk, young player of the season Cole Palmer and forwards Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins with Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.
Foden, 23, had earlier this month been named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
Foden’s win this year, adds to a wealthy contingent of City players that have taken the award in recent years becoming the fifth successive winner from the club side. Kevin De Bruyne took the prized trophy in both 2019/20 and 2021/22, Ruben Dias in 2020/21 while Erling Haaland took the trophy home in 2022/2023.
Speaking on the award, Foden remarked “the Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world, and it is a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs.
“Overall, I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season.
“I’dHe also proceeded to thank the entire staff at Manchester City and teammates who got him in the running. As well as the respective people who cast their votes.
Foden who broke into the Manchester City first team scene back in 2016 would hope his impressive performances can continue all the way to the forthcoming European championships scheduled for this summer.
