Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

International bilateral customers receiving power from Nigerian generation companies have defaulted on payments totaling $14.19 million for services rendered in the first quarter of 2024.

According to a report by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), four foreign companies – Para-SBEE in Benin Republic, Transcorp-SBEE in Benin, Mainstream-NIGELEC in Togo, and Odukpani-CEET in Togo – have failed to settle their invoices.

Additionally, local bilateral customers within Nigeria have also neglected to pay N1.86 million in outstanding invoices for Q1 2024 services.

NERC expressed concern over the payment indiscipline exhibited by both domestic and international customers and urged the market operator to enforce the relevant market rules to address this issue.
