Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has disbanded the Rivers State Pensions Board with immediate effect.
The governor directed that the responsibilities of the board be taken over by the office of the state Accountant General until a fresh board is set up.
This was disclosed in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Friday by the state Head of Service, Dr. Inyingi Brown, and made available to journalists.
The statement instructed members of the dissolved board to surrender all assets and properties in their custody to the Director of Administration of the board.
Although no explanation was provided for the decision, the statement read, “The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board.
