Fubara eulogises late Mpigi, praises his service to Rivers people

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State paid tribute to the late Senator Barinada Mpigi, describing him as a brave and dedicated leader whose service to his people would not be forgotten.

Speaking during a Service of Songs at the Missionary Anglican Church in Koroma, Tai Local Government Area, the governor noted that the late lawmaker, who represented Rivers South East in the National Assembly until his death, lived a life marked by purpose and commitment.

Fubara reflected on the reality of death, saying it remained an unavoidable part of human existence and beyond anyone’s control.

He encouraged the bereaved family to remain strong, acknowledging the deep pain of losing a loved one and stressing that only God could offer true comfort and help fill the gap left behind.

He added that he had earlier conveyed his condolences through a letter and a personal visit shortly after receiving news of the senator’s passing.

According to him, no one could alter their lifespan, as life and death ultimately rested in God’s hands.

The governor recalled Mpigi’s resilience and contributions to public service, noting that he would be remembered for his dedication and fighting spirit.

He also thanked members of the National Assembly and residents of Koroma Tai for turning out in large numbers to honour the late senator.

Mpigi, died on 19 February and received tributes from politicians including the senate that suspended its preliminary to honour him in February.
