Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said that the process to restore peace in Rivers is already in motion following the political crisis that nearly threw the state into chaos.

He called on residents and Nigerians to appreciate President Bola Tinubu for stepping in at the right moment to stop the tension from turning into a full-blown crisis.

Fubara shared this during a meeting with leaders and supporters of the Simplified Movement in Port Harcourt.

The gathering was part of the events to mark his second year in office, despite being out of the Government House due to the ongoing power struggle.

He expressed hope that the state government, including the Executive and Legislative branches, would soon be back to normal.

According to him, the aim is to bring back unity so that both arms of government can work together again and focus on improving the lives of the people.

He noted that the challenges faced by the state over the past months had made it difficult to celebrate some achievements made by his administration in the last two years.

However, he promised that once normalcy returns, the government would come back stronger and better prepared to deliver real progress.

Fubara explained that the peace process was already on course, and he encouraged everyone involved to be calm and willing to forgive.

He stressed that the interest of the state must come before personal feelings or positions, and urged those affected to support the steps being taken to restore order.

He made it clear that President Tinubu played a vital role in controlling the situation and bringing some level of calm to Rivers State.

He praised the President’s timely response and acknowledged the efforts of other individuals across the country who helped push for peace.

Fubara maintained that the goal now is to put the state first and ensure that Rivers moves forward without further trouble.
