Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has charged the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabraba, to discharge his duties with honour, respect, and responsibility, while prioritising the protection of the state’s interest.
The News Round The Clock (NRTC) earlier reported that Fubara appointed the SSG on Monday.
Fubara gave the directive during the swearing-in ceremony of the new SSG, which was held at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt.
The governor described Anabraba’s appointment as an act of divine favour, noting that leadership positions are attained through God’s grace, not by human effort.
He acknowledged the significance of the SSG’s office, which has been held by only a select few since the creation of the state, urging the new appointee to serve with humility and dedication.

“This position is a rare privilege. Guard that office with honour. Discharge your duties with respect. Protect the interests of Rivers State. When you leave office, let it be with honour, and that only comes through responsible service,” Fubara cautioned.
Expressing confidence in the new SSG’s ability to perform, the governor referenced Anabraba’s past experience as a principal officer of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
He emphasised that the appointment is “a call to duty” and not an opportunity for “show or display of power.”
Fubara also stressed that the current administration is focused on restoring the people’s confidence, especially following the return of peace to the state.
He enjoined the new SSG to align with the administration’s vision and contribute meaningfully to the collective progress of Rivers people.
