Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukçu has revealed that the Turkish champions secured the blockbuster signing of Victor Osimhen without borrowing a single euro.
The Super Eagles forward completed a permanent €75 million transfer from Napoli – setting a new Turkish football record.
According to Kavukçu, the club began planning the ambitious move as far back as January. Despite skepticism from some quarters, Galatasaray raised the full amount internally, without selling players or seeking external funding.
Although he initially joined on loan, Osimhen’s impact last season was nothing short of phenomenal. The Nigerian hitman netted 37 goals in 41 appearances, playing a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s march to the league title. Unsurprisingly, fans swarmed Atatürk Airport in thousands to welcome their returning hero.

However, the big-money move wasn’t just about ambition—it was about belief and sacrifice. Galatasaray’s vice-president, Abdullah Kavukçu, revealed that the club had been working since January to raise the funds without selling any players or seeking financial aid. According to him, the club’s leadership had full faith in their financial strength and the value Osimhen would bring.

“Many thought it was just PR. But we stayed firm, planned properly, and raised the money ourselves,” Kavukçu shared in an interview with Hurriyet. “We’re paying part now and completing the deal within a year. This is Galatasaray—we dared, and we delivered.”
Meanwhile, Osimhen was full of gratitude and optimism. As he waved the club’s colours and acknowledged the cheering supporters, he promised to repay their loyalty with goals and passion. His commitment is expected to further fuel Galatasaray’s ambitions in domestic football and European tournaments alike.
Kavukçu urged fans to remain calm and trust the process, hinting that more transfers are in the pipeline. He stressed that the club’s recent actions prove its massive potential and serious intent.
While the final signatures are expected to be completed on Thursday, the message from Istanbul is clear: Galatasaray is thinking big, spending smart, and aiming higher—with Victor Osimhen leading the charge.
