Google just unleashed some new updates to Gemini on Android phones fairly recently. That being said, youāll soon be able to summon Gemini as an overlay on top of any app to operate it, as well as Google Assistant. As for the second feature, Google plans to introduce Gemini Live into the Android application.
As previously known, Gemini or Bard is one of Googleās generative AI models. Some people speculated it could when it was released for Android early this year become the standard Google Assistant. Today, Google released updates to the Gemini Android app to move it slightly closer to occupying that slot.
Gemini can now place any application on top of your phone screen and provide brief information about what is displayed on the screen. You can discuss an image, a video or text. You can also produce AI images right within the Gemini interface, and these images can be easily shared across the Google environment including Gmail. Other foldable Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, can also invoke Gemini from the second screen.

The update also is now available on the Android app added with the Gemini Live feature. One of the delivered functionalities: It is a brand new premium feature that allows you engaging in a more synchronous conversation with an AI chatbot. It is as versatile as the text-based Gemini chat, which means that Gemini Live can sustian extended and detailed discussions. āWith Gemini, weāve started over to create an assistant that we can speak with as we would a person, an assistant that understands your intent and the line of thinking, and that can more complex tasks,ā the press release says.
Until now, Gemini wasnāt as deeply integrated into the Android system, so you couldnāt do much with it. The overlay and live chat features make the app more useful for everyday use. Google has plans to overhaul the entire Android operating system with AI, so we can expect to see even more assistant-like capabilities in Gemini. āWith Gemini deeply integrated into Android, we’re rebuilding the operating system with AI at the core, and redefining what phones can do,ā Google explained.
