Google is improving Android 16 with expanded Auracast and LE Audio features, enabling easier audio sharing across multiple headphones and devices.
Auracast allows one device to broadcast an audio signal, which others can receive on supported headphones, earbuds, or hearing aids.
The update expands support for Auracast by rolling out LE Audio capabilities to Sony headphones and selected Android smartphones, including Pixel devices.
Google confirmed that Pixel 8 and newer models now support Auracast. Samsung and Xiaomi flagship devices are also included in the rollout list.

Supported Samsung devices range from Galaxy S23 to Galaxy S25 and multiple Z Fold models, while Xiaomi coverage extends to the 15 Ultra.
Auracast enables both private and group listening. Users can pair headphones simultaneously or connect through Fast Pair and QR code broadcasts.
Google highlighted that the feature eliminates the need to share earbuds and allows multiple people to enjoy the same content wirelessly.
The company said in a release that the upgrade will support a consistent, cross-device experience regardless of smartphone brand or streaming platform.
This advancement positions Android devices closer to Apple’s simultaneous AirPods connections, offering more flexibility for collaborative or social listening.
By expanding Auracast across major manufacturers, Google reinforces its push for wider LE Audio adoption and improved multi-user media experiences on Android.
