Google Pixel update brings three new features

Google’s September Pixel Drop added Material 3 Expressive, Adaptive Audio, and new Google Maps functions for Pixel devices, earbuds, and watches.

The update began rolling out today Thursday and will continue over the next few weeks, according to Google. Some users may see the changes immediately.

Material 3 Expressive introduces a refreshed design language with new UI elements, brighter colors, text styles, and animations across supported Pixel devices.

Originally launched with the Pixel 10 series, the design update is now available on Pixel 6 and newer, including the Pixel Tablet.

Google also announced Adaptive Audio for Pixel Buds Pro 2. The feature adjusts audio levels based on surroundings, similar to earlier adaptive sound technology.

The earbuds update includes Loud Noise Protection, which reduces audio exposure when unexpected loud sounds, such as sirens, are detected.

For Pixel Watch users, Google Maps has been improved. Walking and biking directions started on a phone will now automatically transfer to the smartwatch.

The change allows users to check directions on their wrist instead of holding a phone, supporting safer navigation in outdoor environments.

Google said in a company release that the update reflects its commitment to integrating hardware and software improvements across the Pixel ecosystem.

By extending these updates to older Pixel devices and accessories, Google reinforces its goal of offering a consistent and evolving user experience.
