Google seemed to be on the cusp of moving on with all its streaming device designs namely the HDMI dongle in favour of a conventional set-top box. In the image, we can see that 9to5Google has identified the device’s name as the Google TV Streamer to illustrate that not only is the design of previous Chromecasts fading out but their names too.
The new device has an inclined top cover and the design is quite typical for the company’s recent hardware portfolio. Regarding the included remote, that’s just like the one you get with the older Chromecast and this one is longer and has the volume rocker on the front.

The Google TV Streamer is expected to be unveiled at the August 13th hardware event with other products, including Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9, Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 3 XL, and probably some more items.
I have been patiently expecting that Google will create a more potent streaming player to challenge the Apple TV 4k. The Google Chromecast with Google TV that was launched in 2020 did not reach here, and hence the Nvidia Shield remained the best in terms of performance. This is particularly the case concerning Google’s claimed vision of a low-cost device, and whether Google TV Streamer increases the ante or holds the spec to contain the final price point to Google’s habitual sub-$100 investors risk.
