Gov AbdulRazaq intensifies efforts to revamp Patigi Regatta Motel

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has stepped up efforts to restore the Patigi Regatta Motel, a key facility that will enhance tourism and accommodation in Patigi Local Government Area.

The motel, which had long been abandoned, is currently undergoing reconstruction to meet modern standards and provide high-quality accommodation for visitors to the historical Patigi Regatta Festival.

The reconstruction project includes the addition of classic rooms, VIP suites, a conference hall, a restaurant, expansive courtyards, shopping areas, and ample parking space.

Located along Kpada Road, just 1500 meters from Kusogi Park, the Patigi Regatta Motel is expected to solve the accommodation challenges faced by tourists during the annual Patigi Regatta Festival, which has been held since 1949.

The festival, a unique boating event featuring races, fishing, and swimming, attracts both local and international visitors, making accommodation a critical concern.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed his commitment to making Kwara State a premier destination for cultural and historical tourism.

“Restoring the Patigi Regatta Motel is about more than just providing accommodation; it is about enhancing the entire tourism experience and showcasing the rich heritage of Kwara to the world,” the governor stated.

The revamped motel will also create job opportunities and stimulate the local economy, contributing to the state’s efforts to increase its internally generated revenue.

Governor AbdulRazaq aims to position the Patigi Regatta Festival as a globally recognized event, similar to other major cultural and traditional festivals across the country.
