Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called for increased support for tertiary institutions and infrastructural upgrades for Colleges of Education in the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq made this plea during a meeting with the leadership of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Abuja on Wednesday.
In attendance were Senator Sadiq Umar (Kwara North), as well as House of Representatives members Ahmed Yinka Aluko (Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency) and Mukhtar Tolani Shagaya (Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency). They were received by the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Arch. Sonny Echono, and his team.
āOur administration has initiated the process of elevating one of the three Colleges to a University of Education initially, with plans for others to follow suit. To achieve our transformative goals for these institutions, we require additional investments, particularly in infrastructure. This is where we seek the support of TETFund.

āWhen we assumed office in 2019, the Colleges of Education were in dire straits. From being shuttered due to unpaid staff salaries and lack of accreditation, we revitalized these institutions, and they are now in a significantly better and more stable condition,ā Governor AbdulRazaq said.
He commended TETFund for fulfilling its founding mandate.
āTETFUNDās impact is evident across the nation, including in Kwara State University, where the agency’s substantial investments, such as the recently inaugurated modern library, have significantly enhanced the institution’s standing. We look forward to further collaboration.
