Gov Aiyedatiwa approves N1.2b for payment of backlog of pensioners’ gratuity

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved a N1.2 billion allocation to promptly clear the gratuity for the 2014 set of state retirees.

This initiative is a crucial step by the state government to eliminate the backlog of gratuity owed to the state retirees.

Governor Aiyedatiwa will kick off the distribution of cheques to beneficiaries during an event scheduled for 3 pm on January 11, 2024, at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure.

All gratuities for state retirees in 2013 were settled last year, and the government also cleared the gratuities for local government retirees from 2011 and a portion of 2012. 

Moreso, the government allocates approximately N320m monthly, summing up to about N2.7b annually, for settling benefits of various categories of pensioners.
