Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has handed over Toyota Hilux vehicles to the newly inaugurated local government chairmen across the state’s 18 local government areas.
The presentation ceremony, held on Monday at the Government House in Akure, underscored the administration’s commitment to enhancing grassroots governance and service delivery.
Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that the vehicles were provided to improve the efficiency of local government administration by ensuring seamless mobility for the chairmen.

He reaffirmed his belief in local government autonomy and reiterated his administration’s support for initiatives that strengthen governance at the grassroots level.
“These vehicles are not for luxury but for work. They are meant to help you reach every corner of your local government and serve the people better. We are committed to supporting local government systems in every way possible to ensure effective governance,” the governor stated.
He urged the chairmen to be transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of their communities, stressing that the effectiveness of local governance directly impacts the overall development of Ondo State.
The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ondo State Chapter, and Akure South Local Government Chairman, Gbenga Fasua, expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the initiative.
He assured the governor of the chairmen’s dedication to grassroots development and the implementation of policies that prioritize the well-being of the people.
Dignitaries present at the event included Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Olamide Oladiji, Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties Comrade Bola Taiwo, and Chairman of Ondo SUBEB, Victor Olabimtan, among other top government officials.
