Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has urged President Bola Tinubu to reconsider and adjust his administration’s economic policies.
The governor during a Christmas celebration held in Bauchi yesterday advised the President to set aside pride and adopt a more inclusive approach by listening to the grievances of Nigerians.
“We are calling on the presidency and the federal government to change their approach. When a policy is unpopular, leaders must listen to the people rather than display arrogance, thinking their decisions are infallible. This is not a military regime or an oligarchy,” he stated.
He further emphasised that disregarding public opinion could lead to unrest, adding, āA good leader listens to the people. Anything contrary is an invitation to anarchy and resistance, which is unacceptable.ā
We must rise above pride and ego to address the immense hardship Nigerians are facing. The situation was not this dire before, and if leadership needs to change its approach, so be it.ā
Mohammed also called for collaboration across party lines and government levels to ease the suffering of Nigerians, stressing the need for unity in tackling the nation’s challenges.

Governor Mohammed also used the occasion to urge Christians across the country to pray for Nigeria during these trying times.
āWe join our Christian brothers and sisters in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, and I want to express gratitude for the unwavering support Bauchi Christians have shown me over the years. Even during my time in the ANPP and now with the PDP, your loyalty has been remarkable, and I deeply appreciate it,ā he said.
He emphasised the shared heritage and unity between Christians and Muslims, stating, āWe come from the same roots but hold different beliefs. Everyone is free to practice their faith as there is no compulsion in religion. What matters is unity and mutual respect.ā
Governor Mohammed also highlighted the importance of collective prayer for the nation.āI urge you to pray for Nigeria and its leaders, including myself. The challenges we faceāwidespread hardship, anger, and frustrationādemand divine intervention. Let us pray for God to heal our land,” he said.
The governor’s remarks come amidst widespread criticism of several economic policies implemented by the Tinubu administration, which many believe have exacerbated the hardship faced by Nigerians.
