Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced the suspension of all recruitment into the state’s civil service until further notice.
This decision follows reports of clandestine recruitment activities carried out by various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the state government.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Umar Ikhilor, the governor directed a comprehensive review of all recruitment exercises conducted between May and November 2024.

The governor condemned the backdating of employment letters and emphasised that all future recruitment must be merit-based, competitive, and accessible to all Edo indigenes.
The suspension aims to ensure fairness, equity, and transparency in the recruitment process.
Governor Okpebholo’s directive mandates all MDAs to comply with the suspension and cooperate in the review of appointments made under the previous administration.
