Guinness World Records has extended its support to Nigerian chef Hilda Baci as she undertakes an ambitious attempt to prepare the world’s largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The global record body shared a clip from the Friday kick-off on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, writing: “What’s cookin’? Best of luck to @hildabacicooks who’s attempting a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice today.”
Baci, who gained worldwide fame in 2023 after setting the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, launched her new quest at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
The event quickly transformed into a festival-like celebration, drawing large crowds, celebrities, and food enthusiasts.
Nollywood actress Funke Akindele energized the audience with a stage appearance before assisting Baci in stirring the tomato-rich base of the dish.
The First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun, was also present to encourage the chef.

According to Baci, the specially made pot for the challenge can hold up to 22,619 litres. Her target is to fill at least 80 percent of it, which requires about 5,278 kilograms of raw basmati rice—roughly 264 bags. She noted that she adjusted her plan to 250 bags as part of her strategy.
Other well-known figures spotted at the venue included dancer Kaffy, Tomike Adeoye, Enioluwa, Veekee James, Alex Unusual, Spyro, and several others.
Baci’s 2023 cook-a-thon, where she prepared meals for more than 93 hours, transformed her into a cultural icon and inspired many young Nigerians, especially women, to pursue opportunities in the culinary space.
