Lewis Hamilton has withdrawn from a Formula 1 tyre test in Italy to remain with his dog Roscoe, who is currently in a coma.
The seven-time world champion was scheduled to drive at Mugello on Friday, but his seat will now be filled by reserve driver Zhou Guanyu.
Hamilton explained that Roscoe, his 12-year-old bulldog, is in hospital with pneumonia and needed urgent medical attention.
During treatment, the dog was sedated for tests, but complications caused his heart to stop before vets managed to revive him.
Hamilton revealed the distressing details in an emotional Instagram post alongside photos of him holding Roscoe’s paw at the clinic.

Roscoe’s battle for recovery
According to Hamilton, vets succeeded in restoring a heartbeat, though Roscoe remains in a coma as they prepare another attempt to wake him.
He admitted the family is uncertain about the outcome but stressed that he will remain by his dog’s side through the fight.
The Mercedes star also thanked fans for the overwhelming support, prayers, and kind messages that flooded his social media platforms.
Roscoe, who has 1.3 million Instagram followers, is described in his profile as a “vegan bulldog who loves to travel and play ball.”
The dog is a familiar sight at Grand Prix weekends, often walking with Hamilton through paddocks and appearing in light-hearted moments online.
