Headies Award: Wizkid absent from nomination list for the first time in eleven years, here is what we know about his omission

The Headies Award organizers on Wednesday, July 12 released the complete nomination list for the coming 2023 edition of the honourable ceremony.

While Grammy award winner, Burna Boy bagged eleven award nominations, his Afrobeat colleague, Wizkid was absent from the nomination list.

Wizkid’s omission from the nomination list raised eyebrows as several music pundits immediately called upon the attention of Headies Award organizers especially since the renowned artiste released his album, More Love, Less Ego in November 2022; this means Machala dropped a music project in the year under review.

ā€œTo everyone complaining, Wizkidā€™s MLLE album was actually submitted to Headies but got declined because we are not accepting just anything, maybe he should work hard for next year!ā€ the post allegedly from Animashaunā€™s Instastory read.

However, reacting via his verified Instagram page, Animashaun said the viral post credited to him was photoshoped.

He described it as ā€œmaliciousā€ and ā€œfake.ā€

Sharing a screenshot of the viral post via his Instastory, the Headies boss wrote, ā€œThis is malicious! Itā€™s photoshop.

Fake! Not me.ā€
