Her battle with drugs, alcohol is the root of our problem — Ned Nwoko reacts to Regina Daniels’ assault allegations

Senator Ned Nwoko has blamed the growing tension in his marriage to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels on what he described as her “struggle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”

The lawmaker made the statement following the circulation of a viral video that showed Regina Daniels visibly upset and speaking about alleged domestic violence in her marriage.

In the video, the actress was heard saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house I am nothing, but in my own house I am a queen. Not again, I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”

The footage, which quickly spread across social media, sparked widespread concern among fans and drew an emotional response from a man identified as the actress’s brother, who vowed on Instagram to defend her.

Responding to the allegations, Nwoko took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to deny being violent and instead linked the crisis to his wife’s alleged substance use.

He wrote, “Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety.”

According to him, efforts to help Regina seek medical intervention have been unsuccessful. “The truth is, I have set a clear condition for her to accept rehab in Asokoro or outside Nigeria, especially Jordan, where she will not have access to drugs,” he stated.

Nwoko further accused his wife of exhibiting violent behaviour in recent days, claiming she had attacked three domestic staff members and damaged property.

“She is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff in the past 48 hours and destroying cars and windows for no just cause,” he alleged.

He also claimed that some individuals were enabling the situation. “A scene of chaos unfolded at home, orchestrated by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier. Another known supplier of drugs to Regina is the tiny evil devil called Ann,” Nwoko wrote.

The senator maintained that he had never been violent towards any of his wives, saying, “I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence.” He urged Regina to continue her rehabilitation, expressing concern for her wellbeing.
