Former Big Brother Naija star Boma Akpore has revealed that a romantic relationship he hoped would lead to marriage ended because his partner’s family could not accept him after he became famous.
Boma said he had met someone he truly liked and had planned to marry her.
In an interview with Chude, he recalled that he intended to propose the previous August and had even planned to travel to the United States to get a ring.
He described the relationship as very close and meaningful, with normal ups and downs, but overall, he considered it perfect, until the family intervened and rejected him.
The rejection, Boma explained, was connected to his public profile.

He noted that entering the public eye comes with challenges, and personal relationships can be affected by fame.
Boma, who was part of the 2021 BBNaija “Shine Ya Eye” season, had experienced marriage before.
He said he went through a difficult period in 2017 when he lost his marriage, his career, and faced major life struggles.
Despite those setbacks, Boma recovered, and his participation in BBNaija brought him widespread recognition.
He said the show made him known to the public and gave his career a boost that talent alone had not achieved.
Since then, Boma has focused on acting, working on multiple film projects while moving between Nigeria and the United States.
He said: “I have been married before; my marriage scattered and everything happened in 2017. In 2017 I lost everything, my career, life and wife. I was supposed to be engaging her like last August, I was going to go to America, get the ring, bring it back because I liked her and I told her I was going to marry her.
“The relationship was amazing… with the usual ups and downs, but overall perfect, until the family intervened. This guy? Hell no, impossible. Once you come to the public, that is the prize you have to pay. Participating in BBNaija ‘Shine ya Eye’ edition gave me fame. You could be talented and people wouldn’t still know your worth. But BBNaija made me a household name in the entertainment industry.”
