How I lost four pregnancies – Actress, Basira Beere

Nollywood actress Adeola Yusuf Kafirat Omashalewa, widely known as Basira Beere, has shared her personal struggles with pregnancy loss and family pressures.

In a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, she discussed her journey through acting, love life, marriage challenges, and the heartbreak of losing children.

The actress revealed that her understanding of marriage was shaped by her parents, who gave her the wrong impression about relationships.

She initially believed marriage was only about physical intimacy rather than growth, learning, and responsibility.

Basira described an experience where she became pregnant without realizing it because she was still having her period. She recalled being misled by gifts on Valentine’s Day and later discovering her pregnancy.

Her parents confronted the man involved, who admitted he knew about the situation, while his mother had already suspected the pregnancy.

Basira Beere also revealed that she has suffered the loss of four pregnancies, a deeply emotional experience she described with visible pain.

She expressed how difficult it has been navigating marriage, relationships, and personal expectations while dealing with repeated heartbreak.

She said, “My parents really misled me. How do I even begin to recount the number of times I’ve had sex? It’s not possible to have been married to these men without them having sex with me. I believed marriage was for sex, not for learning. To me, the ‘lesson’ in marriage was having sex morning and night.

“I was once pregnant without knowing, because I was still having my period. I was deceived by flowers on the 14th of February. When I later discovered I was pregnant, they summoned the man responsible, and he admitted he already knew. His mother had even suspected it from observing my legs when I visited their house. I have lost four pregnancies.”
