Hamburg winger Philip Otele has spoken of his pride after making his Super Eagles debut, describing the moment as a dream come true for both himself and his family.
The Basel loanee came off the bench in Nigeria’s 2–2 draw with Jordan, replacing Frank Onyeka to earn his first senior cap.
Otele featured in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but manager Eric Chelle chose to test him in friendlies before competitive fixtures.
After missing Nigeria’s 2–1 win over Iran, he finally got his chance in Austria.
