I Do Not Need Any Godfather To Win Edo Election – Ize-Iyamu


Osagie Ize-Iyamu has stated that he does not need a godfather to win the Edo governorship election. Ize-Iyamu is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Edo state governorship election.

He made this statement on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels TV.

Today, Ize-Iyamu emerged winner of the APC primary election after defeating other candidates.

During the programme, he was asked if he had the blessings of Adams Oshiomhole. Adams Oshiomhole is the suspended National Chairman of the APC. He was also asked about his relationship with Oshiomhole.

Ize-Iyamu stated that the only godfather he has is God. He added that Adams Oshiomhole is the national chairman of the party. Hence, he has immense respect for him. And there are other leaders, too.

In addition, Adams Oshiomhole was not in Edo today. Yet he won the elections at 18 local governments. They have mutual respect for each other; therefore, he will not disrespect him.

Ize-Iyamu stated that he is well grounded in Edo. People know him because he has lived there all his life. Moreso, they believe in him. Furthermore, he stated that Edo people want someone who understands their problems and is able to solve them.

For that reason, he is sincere, focused and has a clear-cut agenda of what he wants to do.

In conclusion, his focus is helping him to stand. He believes on that basis, he will win the election overwhelmingly. In other words, he does not need a political godfather to win.
