39-year-old Ronaldo has scored 64 times in 69 matches for Al-Nassr in all competitions. He joined the Saudi outfit on a free transfer in January 2023 after leaving Premier League club Manchester United.

The 4-2 victory meant Al-Nassr ended second in the table for the second straight season. They finished 14 points behind league champions Al-Hilal who did not lose a single game all through the campaign.

In fact, en route winning the title, Al-Hilal went on a 34-game winning run in all competitions. That is a new world record for a top-tier team.

In a post on social media platform X on Monday night, Ronaldo was full of praise for his remarkable feat.

“I don’t follow the records, the records follow me,” he posted with a picture of his beaming self and his record-breaking number (35).

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo now has 765 goals in his 22-year career for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. Throughout the 2023/24 Saudi Pro League season, Ronaldo scored four hat-tricks.

In addition, the multiple award winner holds the record for most international goals. He has scored 128 goals in 206 appearances for Portugal.

Marcelo Brozovic and Sadio Mane are other amazing stars paraded by Al-Nassr during the season. Al-Nassr would have wished for a better season especially with the world class talents at their disposal.

Not only did they finish far behind Al Hilal in the league table, they also failed to claim either the Saudi Cup or Asian Champions League.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, who was signed by the league champions from Fulham during the summer, finished second in the top goalscorers chart with 27 goals.

Interestingly, both Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal will clash on Friday, 31 May in the King Cup of Champions final.
