“I need to train him better” – Peseiro backs Uzoho after Saudi Arabia howler

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has defended goalkeeper Francis Uzoho after his costly error against Saudi Arabia in Friday’s friendly encounter.

Uzoho turned the ball into his own net during the encounter following a cross into the box. The Cyprus-based goalkeeper was in a good position to save the ball well but poorly and surprisingly punched the ball into the net.

He said: “The goalkeepers never play free or calm because of the people. I don’t know why they attack the goalkeepers every time.

“Why don’t they attack the strikers when they lose the ball or miss a goal, why?

“They could make mistakes, it is my responsibility. Next time I need to train him (Uzoho) better.”
