Nigerian rapper Ice Prince Zamani has spoken about the pain he still feels over the death of South African star AKA.
The Aboki crooner explained that they never settled a misunderstanding before he passed away.
The disagreement started in 2019 after AKA’s comments during xenophobic attacks in South Africa, which led Ice Prince to respond publicly in a way that created tension.
Speaking on a podcast, Ice Prince said AKA was more than just a collaborator, recalling visits to his Lagos home and describing him as a true friend.
He admitted that not reconciling with him before his death left him hurt, adding that he has prayed for peace and often remembers him while praying.
“I wish we got to speak about it [our misunderstanding] because we never. And it hurt me so bad because that’s my friend. AKA wasn’t just an artist that I collaborated with.

“He has been to my house in Lagos a couple of times. That’s my friend. It did hurt me that we never got to settle that misunderstanding.
“But I have prayed about it so many times. I still see him in my prayers. Sometimes, when I’m praying I see him there. So, I know we are at peace. I know he looks out for me as one of my homeboys in heaven,” he expressed.
AKA was shot outside a Durban restaurant on February 10, 2023.
The trial into his killing is still ongoing.
