Ibadan Explosion: Here is everything that we know

On the evening of Tuesday, January 16, a nefarious sound was heard across the city of Ibadan, Oyo state.

According to reports gathered, the explosion occurred around Dejo Oyelese Close, Off Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, a popular vicinity in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state. As at the time of this report, the cause of the explosion has not been ascertained, albeit, several eyewitnesses and residents of Bodija have made numerous allegations across various social media platforms.

A resident of Orogun informed a News Round The Clock (NRTC) correspondent that she heard the deafening sound, saying, “It felt like a tremor that shook the house.”

Another source in the Agbowo area said he heard it was a gas explosion. However, this could not be independently confirmed by NRTC.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the state police command, Adewale Osifeso and the state fire service to ascertain what happened failed.
