The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the implementation of a revised training curriculum for all police recruits.
In a statement released on Wednesday, police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasised that this initiative marks a significant advancement in enhancing the professionalism and operational effectiveness of the police force.
He said the new curriculum, once fully implemented, will equip recruits to address the challenges of policing a complex society like Nigeria and execute their duties in alignment with international best practices.
Mr Egbetokun highlighted that the revised curriculum encompasses a comprehensive range of training topics, including the Police Act 2020, which aims to familiarize trainees with the latest legal framework governing police operations.
Additionally, he stated that the curriculum incorporates the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, designed to educate trainees on appropriate social media conduct and its role in policing and communication.

Mr Egbetokun said the implementation of this revised curriculum underscores his commitment to intellectual and capacity building within the Nigeria Police Force.
He said by addressing these critical training areas, he aims to enhance the optimal performance, professionalism, and community-oriented approach of recruits, preparing them to fulfil their duties effectively within the framework of the law.
Mr Egbetokun reiterated that the police force is dedicated to the continuous improvement and sensitization of its officers, ensuring they are not only well-trained but also equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills to meet the high demands of policing.
This collaborative effort with relevant stakeholders he said is essential in achieving the crime-free society we all deserve.
