IGP Disu meets PCRC leaders, addresses integrity in community policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, welcomed a senior delegation from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to Force Headquarters on Thursday, in a move aimed at deepening collaboration between the police and the public.

Led by PCRC National Chairman Mogaji Olaniyan, the visit provided a platform to align the committee’s grassroots network with the force’s security priorities.

During the meeting, Olaniyan congratulated Disu on his appointment, describing the visit as a demonstration of the PCRC’s “loyalty and unwavering support” for the Nigeria Police Force.

He praised the IGP’s inclusive leadership approach, noting his consistent recognition of the PCRC as a key partner in the nation’s security framework.

The delegation included members of the National Executive Committee and regional representatives, reflecting the wide reach of the committee’s influence.

Disu expressed his gratitude for the PCRC’s enduring collaboration but made it clear that the partnership must be grounded in integrity.

He outlined key expectations for members, emphasising that PCRC leaders must ensure identification cards and credentials are used solely for legitimate community policing activities, and that members focus on gathering actionable intelligence to assist the force in preventing crime.

He also stressed that every member must maintain high personal standards, as the credibility of the partnership depends on the conduct of each individual.

In response, Disu assured the delegation of the Force’s full cooperation.

He emphasised that community engagement is not just a social responsibility but a strategic necessity for modern policing.

Coming just months into his tenure, the meeting underscores the IGP’s commitment to fostering a collaborative, intelligence-led policing model that hinges on trust between officers and the communities they serve.
