The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has inaugurated the newly restructured Force Management Team (FMT).
The inauguration marked a step toward strengthening the leadership and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The inauguration follows the recent appointment of six new Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), a move aimed at ensuring effective administration and alignment with the Federal Government’s security agenda.
During the ceremony, Egbetokun reiterated his commitment to building a professionally competent, service-driven, and people-friendly police force capable of tackling contemporary security challenges.
He emphasised the reorganization and specialization of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and other investigative units as a priority for enhancing policing efforts.

As part of these reforms, the IGP directed an update of the Force’s criminal database to improve intelligence gathering and crime-solving.
He further mandated the Department of Research and Planning (R&P) to collaborate with the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance the database’s functionality and support investigations.
In his address, IGP Egbetokun stressed the importance of equipping investigative units with modern technologies, advanced training programs, and adequate resources to strengthen their capacity.
IGP reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to upholding justice, professionalism, and respect for human rights in all policing activities.
