IGP warns NLC, TUC against tomorrow’s protest, orders watertight security

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has warned the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) against violence ahead of tomorrow’s planned nationwide protests.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement said the IGP was deeply concerned about recent developments regarding the planned nationwide protests.

The IGP added that despite having the right to peaceful protest, as enshrined in the constitution, all parties involved should ensure that the demonstrations are conducted in a peaceful manner to prevent being hijacked by miscreants, owing to the previous ugly experiences of such protests in most major cosmopolitan cities in the country.
