Just a day after being inaugurated for his second term, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma announced the dissolution of his cabinet on Tuesday.
The Governor, re-elected in November of the previous year, removed all commissioners and political appointees from their positions with immediate effect.
Governor Uzodimma is set to reconstitute the cabinet by presenting a fresh list of commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

Those affected by the dissolution include the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, the Chief of Staff, and the Chief Press Secretary.
Uzodimma expressed gratitude to his former appointees for their contributions to the success of his administration during his initial term in office.
The Governor emphasized that the dissolution was deemed necessary to revamp the new administration, aiming for optimal performance and a new direction.
The swearing-in ceremony for Uzodimma’s second term took place on Monday at the Dan Ayiam Stadium in Owerri, attended by notable figures such as President Bola Tinubu, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and other All Progressives Congress leaders and state governors.
