The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has fixed dates for the 2024 Ondo State and Edo State governorship elections.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Samu Olumekun said the Ondo State election will hold on November 16th, 2024 while the Edo State election will hold on the 21st of September 2024.
Olumekun added that the primary election in Edo State will commence on the 1st of February and end 24th of February 2024 while that of Ondo State will hold from the 6th to 27th of April, 2024.
According to INEC, submission of the list of Edo State nominated candidates via the online portal will start at 9:00 a.m. on 4th March and close at 6:00 p.m. on 24th March 2024.

In the same vein, the submission of the list of Ondo State nominated candidates via the online portal will start at 9.00 a.m. on 29 April and close at 6.00 p.m. on 20 May 2024.
The final list of candidates in Edo State will be published on 23rd April 2024 while campaigning in public by political parties commences on 24th April 2024 and ends 24 hours before election day on 19th September 2024.
In Ondo State, the final list of candidates will be published on 18 June while campaigning in public by political parties commences on 19 June 2024 and ends 24 hours before election day on 19th September 2024.
