Instagram expands DM management with new filters

Instagram has rolled out expanded direct message (DM) management tools, introducing new filters and folders to help users better organize conversations.

The platform now allows sorting by story replies, unread, unanswered, followers, and verified users, expanding beyond the creator-only filters launched in November 2024.

In addition, users can rearrange shortcut pills at the top of their inbox, remove unwanted filters, and create personalized folders using a new option.

According to Instagram, these updates aim to help creators, brands, and high-volume accounts manage overwhelming DM activity more effectively.

The company confirmed the tools will be available to all professional accounts and personal profiles with more than 100,000 followers in the coming weeks.
