When you see some job titles, you think it is a go. However, when you read the job description, you start to wonder about the incoherence of the two. Most of the time, because of the rigid working state of Nigerian youths, they take up multiple job roles at once.

You see, jobs related to social media are often confused. You hire a social media manager, yet you want the same person to double as a content creator for you without doubling the pay. In their defense, maybe some hiring managers do not know the differences between these jobs. Let us dig into it.

Social media manager vs Content creator

A social media manager manages your social media account by helping you out with posts. A social media manager is not a photographer, videographer, or content creator. The social media manager manages your sites and ensures that your posts are put up to maximise traffic.

A social media manager is usually hired to boost visibility, engagement, and ultimately leads and sales.

They come up with strategies, content calendars and also work with the creative department on tailoring contents that suit the audience. Your social media manager thinks about how your content will fly and can be converted into sales.

A social media manager can also be a copywriter because they have to create compelling captions to usher your posts in and also engage révélant keywords. They also respond to comments on your posts, engage your audience

If your social media manager shoots your content, édit pictures, and all, then you’re overusing them. While some social media managers can do both, please ensure, as employers, you get the job description right and avoid overworking folks.

Content creator

As the name implies, their primary goal is to curate content suitable for your social media pages. These contents may be in visual and audio formats. Infused into the content creator role is an important skill of videography and editing these days. A content creator might not necessarily be a skilled graphic designer, but a content creator should be able to navigate their way around Canva, at least for little tasks.
