Int’l friendly: Nigeria to play world champions Argentina in March

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will play the Albiceleste of Argentina in a friendly game later in March this year.

The Argentinian Football Association (AFA) made the announcement about the friendly in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

Argentina will be engaged in a friendly tour of China between March 18 and 26 with Nigeria being one of their opponents.

The reigning world champions will play the three-time African champions in their first match of the tour scheduled to be staged at the Olympics Sports Center stadium in Hangzhou. However, the date for the encounter is yet to be announced.

Argentina will also play AFCON 2023 hosts Ivory Coast in Beijing during the friendly tour.

“The Argentine National Team already knows the rivals it will face in the friendly tour of China, to be played from March 18 to 26,” the statement reads.

“Lionel Scaloni’s team will face Nigeria at the Olympics Sports Center stadium in Hangzhou.

“The second match will be against the Ivory Coast at the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing.

“The date of both meetings will be announced in the next few hours.”
