“It is none of your business” – Ireti Doyle breaks silence on painful divorce

Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has opened up for the first time about her separation from ex-husband Patrick Doyle, years after their marriage ended.

The actress had earlier confirmed the divorce in January 2023 during an interview, but chose not to reveal the circumstances surrounding the split. Despite public curiosity and media speculation, both actors have continued to maintain a cordial and professional relationship on screen.

Speaking in a recent interview with Morayo Brown, Ireti addressed the issue more directly, admitting that the end of her marriage was a deeply painful experience.

She explained that her long silence on the matter was intentional, insisting that her personal life is not for public consumption. According to her, the only people entitled to any explanation are close family members and friends who were part of the marriage from the beginning.

“First of all you didn’t hear anything because it is none of your business. Two people come together to get married, there’s a celebration. Sadly, unfortunately something went wrong and you could no longer continue the life journey together.

“The only people you owe explanation to at all, are those family and friends that gathered on day one. You see this larger audience that you are performing for, they do not care. God forbid because I will never knowingly give myself up as a click bait. The end of any relationship talks less of long time marriage is painful”, she said.

Ireti also made it clear that she has no intention of turning her personal struggles into a public spectacle, stressing her resolve to avoid being used as clickbait in the media.
