JAMB approves free 2024 UTME registration for Persons Living With Disabilities

The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board has approved free registration for Persons Living With Disability who wish to sit for the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this while rolling out the registration process for interested candidates across the country.

While announcing that registration for the 2024 matriculation examination will commence today Monday, the JAMB boss said JAMB will begin free application documents to all categories of Persons Living With Disability as an education support.

“To support the PLWD, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of Persons Living with Disabilities in the advertisement for the 2024 UTME/DE,ā€ Oloyede explained.

Oloyede who disclosed that measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth exercise for all candidates, also mentioned that audio books will now be provided for all blind candidates.

The registrar further mentioned that the digital transformation of the conventional reading book includes popular audio formats like MP3, WMV, and WMA, ensuring compatibility with all devices capable of streaming audio records.

He said the idea to offer audiobooks originated during the initial National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria.

Besides visually impaired candidates, the examination body aims to extend free registration benefits to individuals with Down syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
