The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a controlled process through which candidates who have genuinely lost access to the phone numbers or email addresses linked to their profiles can update their contact details.
JAMB announced the development on Monday, September 21, 2026, through its official X account, stating that the new service commenced the same day.
According to the board, the facility is specifically designed for candidates who can establish that they have lost access to the GSM number or email address originally registered on their JAMB profiles.
The board said candidates seeking to use the service must visit designated JAMB Computer-Based Test centres, including applicable state offices, where the necessary verification would be carried out.
JAMB said the process would not be available through informal channels, stressing that candidates must undergo identity and biometric verification before any change can be effected.
“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” JAMB said.

The restriction means eligible candidates will have only one opportunity to use the facility, making the verification process a critical part of the procedure.
The board also warned candidates against patronising individuals or unofficial platforms claiming to be able to alter information on their JAMB profiles.
“For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” it said.
JAMB said the initiative was being implemented under its JCARE and JAMB Updates programmes.

The latest arrangement provides an avenue for candidates who can no longer access their registered contact details to seek an official update rather than relying on unofficial intermediaries.
Candidates may request changes to their registered GSM number, email address, or both, provided they meet the requirements established by the board.
JAMB’s official guidance has previously placed emphasis on candidates retaining access to the contact details used during registration. Its published procedures also provide mechanisms for recovering profile information through the registered mobile number, while biometric verification remains an important part of several JAMB processes.
The board has also previously introduced a profiled-email procedure for candidates who lose access to their SIM cards. Under that process, candidates are required to visit an accredited CBT centre, complete the relevant template and undergo processing by an authorised CBT official before a new email address can be linked to their profile.
JAMB’s latest announcement, however, specifically addresses candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses and provides for a controlled update at designated centres.
The board’s warning against unauthorised channels is significant because changes to candidates’ admission profiles involve sensitive personal and examination information. JAMB therefore advised affected candidates to deal directly with its designated centres and comply with the required identity and biometric checks.
The service commenced on September 21, 2026, and can only be accessed once by an eligible candidate, according to the board.
