Jude Okoye regains freedom after over two months in EFCC custody

Jude Okoye, former manager and elder brother to Paul and Peter Okoye of the now-defunct music duo P-Square, has been released from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody.

News Round The Clock earlier reported that Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited, were arraigned by the EFCC on allegations of laundering ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

Paul Okoye, widely known as RudeBoy, posted videos to his Instagram story on Wednesday announcing his release.

“Jude is finally out after 2months + .. all their efforts to frustrate his bail has finally collapsed. Welcome home brother #judeengees. And happy birthday. Welcome back blood,” Paul wrote.

He also revealed that a celebration was underway to mark Jude’s return.

Jude’s legal troubles began in February when he was arraigned. At the time, Paul had publicly expressed support for him, insisting he wouldn’t abandon his elder brother and pointing fingers at his twin, Peter, for Jude’s ordeal.

Just last week, Peter appeared before the Federal High Court in Lagos, where he testified that Jude had allegedly created a new company in his wife’s name to divert royalties earned by P-Square.

The court has adjourned the case until June 4 for cross-examination.

Following his appearance in court, Peter took to social media to share his emotional reflections on the family dispute, writing:

“Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence. I did – for over 20 years and it almost cost me everything. But now I know better – love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family doesn’t steal from you.

“Family that steals and breaks you isn’t family at all. Real family doesn’t drain you, shame you, discriminate against you, or ignore your pain.”
