An Abuja-based Court of Appeal has pronounced the Zamfara state governorship election, which led to the emergence of Dauda Lawal, as inconclusive.
In a Thursday judgment conveyed by a three-member panel of Justices, the court decreed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must organize a new election in Maradun Local Government Area and specific polling units in Birnin Magaji and Bukyun local government areas of the state.
Earlier, Zamfara State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on September 18 dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bello Matawalle, challenging the emergence of Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor of the state.

The Court upheld Lawal’s victory dismissing the petition of Matawalle, saying the outcome of the March 18 governorship election lacked merit.
Recall that INEC declared Dauda Lawal gathered 377,726 votes to emerge the winner, defeating Matawalle, who scored only 311,976 to sit in second place.
