JUST IN: FG declares May 1st public holiday

The Federal Government (FG) has declared Wednesday, 1st May as a Public Holiday to observe this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Dr Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, emphasizing the importance of excellence, efficiency, and equity across all labor sectors. 

Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to promoting a culture of innovation, productivity, and inclusivity in workplaces.

Tunji-Ojo said: “In alignment with this year’s theme, which focuses on ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, I wish to state that the Federal Government remains steadfast in its resolve to prioritise the safety and well-being of all citizens.

“Let me reaffirm Mr President’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for work, where every worker can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development”. 

Recognising the invaluable contribution of workers, he advocated for proactive measures to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. 

This involves fostering synergy in implementing sustainable practices and policies that enhance well-being in the workplace and contribute to nation-building guided by the principles of integrity, diligence, and compassion.

Furthermore, the Minister urged Nigerians to maintain their commitment to the present administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as he extended warm wishes to workers for a joyful celebration.
