Juventus v Salernitana: Three red cards in four-goal thriller


Juventus couldn’t secure a winner against Salernitana at the Allianz Arena following a controversial finish.

The hosts had come back from 2-0 and were on the brink of securing a maximum point against their impressive visitors, only for the goal to be ruled offside after a VAR consultation.

Antonio Candreva, who had a stint with Juventus about 18 years ago opened the scoring for Salernitana.

The visitor then doubled their led from the penalty spot through Krzysztof Piatek after VAR spotted Bremer handling the ball in the box to cap up an impressive first half.

Bremer will later atone for his error when he nodded in a cross from Filip Kostic.

Juventus kept on knocking and the equaliser eventually arrived. Alex Sandro was felled in the box and Leonardo Bonucci levelled matters.

Juventus thought they already had the winner when Arkadiusz Milik nodded in a corner to send the fans into a wild jubilation. The Polish striker was given a second yellow card for pulling off his shirt.

Fazio, Allegri, Cuadrado sent off

The referee cancelled the goal after Bonucci was seen interfering with the goal. This led to a brawl from both quarters that see Juan Cuadrado, also sent off.

Salernitana skipper, Federico Fazio was also issue a red card for his part in the brawl.

Juventus coach, Max Allegri was also sent off in the melee.

However, after Milik was sent off, and the goal that led to his second yellow was cancelled, he was not recalled back into the field.

This means he won’t be ruled out of Juve’s next game as the 3 second yellow is expected to be cancelled.
