Kano gov signs laws establishing four new agencies

Kano State Governor, Kabir Yusuf, has signed four bills into law, creating new agencies aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks and accelerating sustainable development across the state.

The development was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The newly established agencies are: Kano State Protection Agency (KASPA), Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASIAA), Kano State Information and Communication Technologies Development Agency (KASITDA) and Kano State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (KASMEDA).

According to Governor Yusuf, the new laws will stimulate innovation, support small and medium-scale businesses, regulate advertising and signage, and enhance public safety and service delivery.

He described the move as a major step towards actualising his administration’s vision for a modern, inclusive, and economically robust Kano.

“Our mission is to lay a solid foundation for a greater Kano. These laws go beyond policy — they are key instruments of transformation that will help drive our development agenda,” he said.

The governor also warned that violations of the new legal provisions would attract strict penalties, reaffirming his government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring full compliance.
